One of my extremely careful friends in MA got Covid this past week (she's still feeling sick, but in a head cold sort of way-- she felt worst on Sunday before an antigen test came up positive). The college she works at removed their mask mandate, then the kid in her classes who refused to mask properly when it was on got covid and he came back to school (and her office) unmasked before he fully recovered. Even though she was wearing a mask it wasn't enough. Though it's also possible she got it at the grocery store or from a different student. This just seems like the most likely option. The antigen test was still positive 5 days after her first positive. Update: She just lost her sense of smell.
We still seem to have low case rates here; county numbers, K-12 numbers, and University numbers seem to all be below the 11 per 100K threshhold. And yet, the person whose office is next to mine has an insane cough that I keep hearing every few minutes. Not everything is covid, but dude, if it doesn't go away with an allergy pill, why go into work?
