The Long-tailed Duck, which has been over-wintering on a private reservoir, seems to have moved on

Yesterday, on my way back from the back-bender, I called in at Letheringsett to see if I could catch up with Kingfisher. No luck, but a mixed flock of Siskin and Redpoll in the Alders was some recompense. Another Kingfisher dip at Selbrigg Pond set the tone for the rest of the day. The long-staying Long-tailed Duck seems to have finally moved on from the local field reservoir, on private land. I went to look for the Little Gull at Northrepps but there were farm machines working in the field and a final late afternoon search for Firecrest in Felbrigg was abandoned because of recent habitat management work in the vicinity of one of the regular sites. Sea-watching this morning did produce a migrating Marsh Harrier and plenty of Gannet.
