Jesus told us: "And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you." John 14:16-17 (ESV)

Paul wrote to the members of the church in Corinth that they were the Temple of the Holy Spirit. The word temple is used to describe the Holy of Holies, the inner sanctum in the Old Testament tabernacle structure. There, God's presence would appear in a cloud and meet the high priest on the Day of Atonement.

When we become disciples of Jesus, we are made the inner sanctum of God the Holy Spirit, we become the habitation of the Holy Spirit.

What an awesome thought! That God, who is everywhere and can do anything, chooses to dwell in our hearts. And He promises that the Holy Spirit will always live with us. We're never alone!
