Grabbing A Shake On A Hot Day
Friday night I was out in the country making some photos. The last light of the day was hitting so I grabbed a photo of the Otterbein water tower with the light kissing off of it. In town I thought that the show was over to The Dugout to grab a shake. At this point even with the sun on the horizon the heat index was still over 100 so a shake sounded really good. It was a nice reward for a fun photography outing. As I was enjoying my shake I watched the sun set behind the sign. I had just come from the immediate area looking for a barn for sunset with no luck so I figured that this was as good of a place as any to watch the sun go down.
Making Photos In Extreme Heat
For almost all of my drive the temperature was in the mid 90's with the heat index over 100. This creates some problems for your camera gear. I want some air conditioning in the car for me, but my camera would not like it when I stepped out into the hot, humid air. When it is this hot I run just enough air to keep me cool, and I leave my camera in the camera bag. That way the air conditioning really doesn't get to it too much. Hours before I left I put my bag in the car so that it could start acclimating to the heat outside as well. By doing all of this it prevents my lens from fogging up when I am making photos. Every time that I stepped out of my car my glasses would fog up. Thanks to a couple of steps my camera never did.
