The Greek Wing, Louvre - Paris, France
I featured the Athena of Velletri yesterday, which was positioned in a prime location in the Greek Wing at the Louvre. Today, the other Greeks.
I'm sure there is historical and artistic merit to all these works of art, though I didn't bother reading through the descriptions. I visually lumped them all together as a collection. What percentage of museum-goers spend time studying the details of each exhibit?
No doubt I've already offended or been written off by art museum lovers when I said I'm not interested in these places. I came to the Louvre because my wife wanted to go, though I was interested in its architecture, especially the glass pyramid at the entrance. I am architecturally biased, believing art, including paintings, photographs, and sculpture, is secondary to the building. These works of art are embellishments to the living environment dictated by the structure's design.
