Sunday 30th July comments: Its almost time to say goodbye. The vast majority of Puffins have now departed the island, ready for eight months out at sea.
It's an incredible hardy lifestyle but as these birds head for the open North Sea and Atlantic ocean, they will spend the autumn, winter and early spring on the sea not returning to touch land until next March. The job is done for another year as huge numbers of Pufflings have been leaving the island over the last 4-5 weeks.
However don't despair, we still have some Puffins left but they are reducing on a daily basis so make sure you are quick otherwise you will miss out. These seabird seasons are rapid as it doesn't seem that long ago that we were just starting up!
