Long-billed Dowitcher at Cley - watercolour by Gary Wright
A couple of nights ago Gary called round to drop off our Long-billed Dowitcher watercolour which we'd commissioned from him back in the Spring. He sketched the bird from its first arrival in October through to its eventual departure in May - expertly capturing the various changes in plumage. It eventually departed from Cley with Black-tailed Godwit and was presumed to have headed off towards Iceland. A week ago, a dowitcher appeared in The Broads - thought possibly to be our early returning bird. Maybe it never left the country. Hot news from this morning is that it is back at Cley!
