Western Honey Bee-Apis mellifera As many times as I have photographed bees, this is the first successful in flight shot I've managed.

Sometimes, I guess, even a honey bee can make a bad choice of taverns to catch a sip. Apparently this bee must have got a bit of milkweed sap. Right after I made this shot it dropped dead to the ground. Milkweed latex is nasty stuff and toxic to most insects other than those such as Monarch larvae and a few specialists who can nibble the leaves with impunity.
