Great news! The Royal Canadian Air Force is proud to announce that RCAF Game Force has won the Training Modernization Vector Check! RCAF Game Force will support gaming and esports for all members and their families, veterans, and the Canadian public.
"RCAF Game Force is an initiative to help connect Canadians of all ages, locations and backgrounds to the RCAF through a shared passion for esports and gaming. Gamified digital simulators have been used for decades to train military members to sharpen mental acuity, fine motor coordination and competitive excellence. RCAF Game Force aims to promote the many healthy benefits of gaming to society and inspire youth to consider careers in STEM." wrote Game Force Founder and Co-Chair Nancy Coelho.
According to the RCAF Centennial Team Strategic Planner, and RCAF Game Force Public Affairs Officer, Captain Aaron Niles, the inclusion of esports within the military "marks a major milestone" in the integrations of gaming into the Canadian Armed Forces and will see the Royal Canadian Air Force establish a presence in military and civilian esports events in North America and around the world.
RCAF Game Force Co-Chair, Major Adam Stewart stated that, "esports is a great way to engage with young Canadians and to share our story of service to Canada." Major Stewart also went on to say that tournaments for a wide variety of games, are expected to be announced in the coming weeks, as the Royal Canadian Air Force seeks to showcase the skills, talents, and personalities of the RCAF's diverse membership, in an effort to build a lasting community.
