Taking A Streaking Break On Campus
Sometimes you just need to blow off steam and go on campus and do a little streaking. After a weekend in which I photographed 27 innings of baseball a walk close to sunset with a little streaking sounded like a lot of fun. I grabbed one camera, my 24-105mm lens, and my Lee Big Stopper. The Big Stopper is a must for streaking. It lets me make long exposures during the day which allows the clouds to streak through the scene. It is a slower photography process than making sports images. In a sporting event for the most part you are at fast shutter speeds to freeze the action. This is kind of in the opposite direction. I want the action slowed down to allow the clouds to blur. It is a fun creative process that is also kind of random. You never know exactly what you are going to get.

Streaking From The Quad To The Gymnasium
I started this walk off near Cary Quad and went all the way to the old gymnasium which the ROTC now uses. It is not a fast walk by any means. With every exposure being at least 30 seconds you are spending some time at each stop. It really makes you think about how much the photo is worth to you. You don't want to spend five minutes at a stop when you don't really feel what you are doing. It is a fun way to make some photos that are a little interesting though.

Speeding Things Up
When I saw that the sun was lining up with the Purdue gate I decided to take off the ten stop filter and make a few images at a faster shutter speed. I always like this image, and I don't see it out there that often. Even when streaking you have to keep your eye out for other kinds of photos too.
More Photos From My Walk
I really didn't go that far, but I did make some photos that I really liked on my walk. Here are a few bonus streaking photos from a short walk around Purdue. One of them of the John Wooden statue you have seen before, but I wanted to include it here as it was part of the streaking festivities. Remember any of these photos can be purchased by clicking on the photo, and then hitting the shopping cart button once you are taken to my SmugMug site.
