There's the "Elf on a Shelf" and now the "Tree Frog on a Ledge".

I've read that they like someplace flat so I guess our deck ledger counts. I've found them on several non-tree "ports in a storm" including between the arms of stacked lawn chairs.
Identifying gender depends on having either two at hand so you can see which is larger (the female is) or if there is an angled toe on the front foot (that's a male). Can't tell either case here. They eat mostly insects but will also eat their own young. (I read that and did not witness it).
