NSF is partnering with KnowInnovation to host two LIFE Scoping Workshops (one in-person and one virtual) that will bring together diverse scientists to think on specific research challenges and opportunities, including technological and educational training needs, that leverage convergent evolution to investigate the evolution of innovation and adaptive traits.
If you are eager to engage with diverse researchers to spark creative paths forward to advance our understanding of LIFE, join us! We encourage researchers with interest and expertise in a variety of fields, including but not limited to, biochemistry, molecular biology, systematics, bioengineering, computational biology, developmental biology, mathematics, biomechanics, physical scientists, integrative biologists, ecologists, and cellular biology.
Major goals of the LIFE events:
Jumpstart ideas, build new networks and teams, and outline the most exciting areas of research, including the needs, strategies, and recommendations, to enable scientific advancements that leverage natural systems to help us more efficiently and effectively understand life and engineer new and sustainable technologies that power our economy and ensure a resilient planet.
Dates, Times, and Registration Information
The in-person Scoping Workshop will be held August 14-16, 2023 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The virtual Scoping Workshop will be held September 11, 13, 14, 2023 from 10am – 4pm ET each day. Each event will have 60 selected participants from the applications.
Application deadline for the scoping workshops is June 5, 2023 by End of Day. You can apply for the Scoping Workshops HERE.
More Information
A virtual Town Hall was held on May 15, 2023 to discuss the workshop goals and event logistics. The recording of that event and the presented slides are available on the workshop webpage. You are encouraged to watch the recording as it can provide more context to the workshop purpose, logistics, and application process.
