When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he thought, "Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it." 17 He was afraid and said, "How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven."
Genesis 28:16-17
Jacob was asleep when he saw a ladder from earth to heaven. There he saw angels coming down and up the ladder, and finally saw God telling Him that He will be with him until He has done His promise.
I remembered the song by U2 titled, "Where the streets have no name," and there is this phrase that God says, "and when you go there, I go there with you. It's all I can do." It moved me to tears. It is God's promise that He will never leave you, nor forsake you, and that no matter what happens He will provide everything that you need until His coming down from heaven. His promise makes my faith stronger, for He is with me.
Jesus is also the gate as mentioned as the gate of heaven:
So Jesus said again, "I am telling you the truth: I am the gate for the sheep. 8 All others who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9 I am the gate. Those who come in by me will be saved; they will come in and go out and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only in order to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come in order that you might have life—life in all its fullness.
John 10:7-10
Before, I remember the time we got robbed because our house is not yet finished. There is no gate! The windshield of our car was removed and they stole the stereo system. So, the Lord Jesus Christ is the gate that will protect us from thieves. He will stand guard by you wherever you go. This is really God's blessed assurance that He will never let anyone steal you and harm you… even while you sleep!
