Good morning. It's October 4, 2022, and you made it to another National Taco Day and on a Tuesday! Really, that is not the best part, today is the anniversary date of when we first met Tacobelle. I often joke that she is my emotional, support cat. Actually, she is an emotional, Mainecoon mix who gets a little needy around 1 AM every night. Most likely, she is just used to Hubby getting up early for work. Often, if we sleep in a little later, she lets us know by walking on us as we sleep. The joy of being a pet-parent. Lately, she rushes out, into the back yard to catch lizards and bugs. One morning, after Hubby left for work, I turned off all the house lights and watched TV. The back door was open to get air and Tacobelle usually goes out. Well, one night, she ran in and started meowing loudly. I looked over at her and could see her outline in the dark living room. I turned a lamp on and that is when I saw it. She was so proud of the gift she had brought me. She even tossed it at me. I was horrified! It was a baby lizard, and it was laying on the floor, stiff. Quickly, I found an envelope and scooped the baby lizard on to it. Tacobelle cried again. The little lizard started moving and I took it out to the planter, hoping to never see it again. Fat chance. That cat and her now tailless friend, hang out regularly. She brought it back in a few days later and it was missing the tail and we again played out the same routine of scooping and placing the little guy in the planter. Sigh. Today is her day and one that both hubby and I fondly remember.

She loves shoes.

In the last post, I know I mentioned that Summer was on its way and Fall had arrived. Well, it seems this Summer, left something behind, so she had to come back and roast us again. It has been hot, but nothing major as it really doesn't get over 100 'til after noon. Anyhow, I have continued going through old SD cards and I even started cleaning up email accounts, you know checking spam folders and unsubscribing to spammy, emails. Me, like most people, have a few email accounts. I have one that I use just for spam and companies that I know will send out multiple emails. Usually, I hardly ever check those accounts. Last week I decided to check out one of the spam folders and saw that I had missed out on several free shows and concerts at a local casino. Here in the Coachella Valley, we have 8 casinos in the CV, well, 9 if you count Morongo, that is just before Palm Springs. I have joined the players clubs for all of these casinos. Every once and a while, they will throw you a few bones, I mean free tickets to concerts and such. As I mentioned, I checked out the spam folder and saw that I had two concert tickets available for a Silversun Pickups show. We have received free tickets from other casinos, and I figured that these would be like the others. You know in the "cheap seats". I was totally okay with that as the concert that we saw there was Sammy Hagar in 2018. Our seats were in the last row of the very top tier in the theater, but in my opinion, they were very good. So, Saturday, we headed to the casino to pick up our tickets. It was such an easy process, we walked to the appointed area and the nice guys that were at the table handed us two tickets. I just took them and said thank you. Hubby then asked, "Where are your seats?" I went back to the table and left smiling! I could tell that they were going to be close even though they were not floor seats.

Not floor seats, but if I ever see another show there, I hope to be in this area.

We live about 10 minutes from this venue. After we picked up our tickets, we came home and relaxed as we had several hours before the show. We left our place around 7:30 PM and arrived about 7:45 PM. I was worried that there would be lots of stairs that I would have to maneuver as I remembered the upper seats were a bit scary to me. For this concert, I left my cameras at home and relied on my Iphone 6s and used a clear, plastic purse so that we could breeze through security. Once inside, the venue staff happily asked anyone and ever. Whew!

Our seats were two rows behind the sound guy and just behind a camera man....Goody!!
If I were younger and looking for a career, I would have studied media as I know that guy was working but he had the best seat in the place, an un-obstructed view.

The show started promptly just after 8 PM. There was no opening act. I was excited as the Silversun Pickups are a band from Los Angeles, CA. Their band name is rumored to be taken from the SilverSun liquor store located across from the Silverlake Lounge. This was not far from my first and second apartments in LA. I used to pass the area daily when I took the bus to work. This song was often playing in my headphones. I loved the cool basslines and what I call janky guitar. Press play...This was recorded on my Iphone 6 so the video quality is iffy.

This really makes me want to try again. Try again to get media passes so that I get my chance to take concert photos and maybe to interview some of the bands. I would have loved to have spoken to Nikki Monninger, the bass player of the band. She played a red Gibson Firebird for the entire show and that tone from the Firebird is one that I know well. Hubby also plays a five string Firebird and it growls, if you know what I mean. She is also very stylish and rocked a shimmery mini dress and the coolest shoes. It was a treat for the eyes, but her playing was amazing! Along with her in the rhythm section, was drummer, Christopher Guanlao, banging it out. Hubby nudged me a few times and said, "Look at the drummer and that cymbal." I tried to focus on him, and his arms were moving so fast you barely see them. I was lost in wonder, for sure. Here is one more song to sample, the song that they opened the show with, Well Thought Out Twinkies.

Singer Brian Aubert played a few different guitars. I am still trying to figure out what brand that hollow body is that he is playing. His vocals remind me a bit of Billy Corgan, but just a bit. I loved the chemistry that they had on stage. Very entertaining.

My Nikon fitted with the 200mm prime lens, would have been perfect for these seats...Maybe next time.

The concert lasted close to an hour and forty minutes. The encore song, the last one, was their hit Lazy Eye. It was glorious and I had to put my phone down so I could sing along..."I've been waiting...I've been waiting for this moment all my life..." If there were ever a song list of my life, this surely would be listed in the top twenty as this song was on repeat on my Sony Vaio. I had downloaded this song on Limewire or Napster (my apologies to the band). I didn't have a TV in that first apartment on Albany St. in the Pico-Union area of Los Angeles and music was what kept me company when my kids were with their father. The memories that music holds.

Thank you, again to Agua Caliente Casino for the fabulous experience! Do check out the hotel if you are coming to the CV to visit. I hear the pool is pretty spectacular.

It's 5:11 AM and time for me to get moving. I have a birthday for my cat to celebrate 🙂

To you dear reader, thank you for visiting. Wherever you are and whatever you are going through, I hope that the sun shines softly on you. Hugs to you and you and especially you!

The Silversun Pickups are an alternative rock group. To learn more about them, please check out their website for future shows or to sample their newest album, Physical Thrills. This link will take you to their website. As always, this is not a sponsored post, just my opinion.
