It's that time again! Another month has come and gone and we are hurtling into autumn at a neck breaking pace. I love it. This is my favorite time of year. Today, we are digging into September to see how my month went.

On a personal note, this September was particularly special to me as my kiddo, my baby girl . . . turned 18 years old. That's right, folks, I somehow successfully raised a child to adulthood. Or, at least, she's still alive? She is smart, sassy, and a force of nature. I'm so proud of her.

This month was also a pretty successful reading and blogging month. Let's dive in, shall we?

September 2022 Book Log

Y'all. I read TEN BOOKS THIS MONTH!! That's a huge month for me! I feel like I have been steadily improving my reading ever since I started keeping better track of it. Not only does it encourage me to read more, but it's also a little dopamine hit every time I mark it down on my chart.

Books Read:

  1. Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare (Dark Artifices #1)
  2. Shadow Rising by Yasmine Galenorn (Otherworld/Sisters of the Moon #12)
  3. The Cartographers by Peng Shepherd
  4. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
  5. Lock Every Door by Riley Sager
  6. Haunted Moon by Yasmine Galenorn (Otherworld/Sisters of the Moon #13)
  7. Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare (Dark Artifices #2)
  8. Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro
  9. Autumn Whispers by Yasmine Galenorn (Otherworld/Sisters of the Moon #14)
  10. Pachinko by Lee Min-Jin

The other thing that I really liked this month is that since I was trying to fulfill prompts over at the Seasonal Reading Challenge, I got to fit in some re-reads that I had wanted to do for a while (more on that later).

Reading Stats

September 2022 Chapter Graph

The text is a bit smaller this month since there are more books, but here you can see about how long it took me to read them. And yes, Queen of Air and Darkness is listed since I started it on September 30th. I wasn't planning on starting my new books until October 1st, but I had to. I couldn't wait.September 2022 Pages

I was also pretty proud of being able to actually read every day this month. Even if I only had time to read one chapter (which is all I could do on the 27th, being my daughter's birthday and, unfortunately, a day where I had a pretty bad migraine), I still tried to read at least a little bit every day. That didn't happen in August, but I'm glad that I was able to keep up with it in September and onward (hopefully).

I mentioned the Seasonal Reading Challenge earlier. I currently have 140 points, which for me is really good. It's nowhere near the top (the top person has 400 points right now), but it's kind of around the middle. Again, it's not really a competition with the other readers, per se. Or at least, I don't see it that way. More of a competition with myself to see how well I can do and, compared to previous times I've tried this, I'm doing great. This is probably the most points I've ever had! And I still have two more months!

Challenge Updates

GoodReads Reading Challenge: My goal for 2022 was to read 60 books. Currently, I am sitting at 53 books read. According to GoodReads, I am 8 books ahead of schedule! I think it is safe to say that unless something drastic happens, I will probably blow my original goal out of the water.

Complete the Series Challenge: I have 44 series on my list that need to be completed (you can see the complete list here). My goal was to complete six of them this year and to finish any new series that I started. While I didn't complete any new series during the month of September, I did make progress on two of them - two out of three of the Dark Artifices series by Cassandra Clare and three more of the Otherworld/Sisters of the Moon series by Yasmine Galenorn. I have already completed three other series this year (Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson, Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs, and The Seven Realms by Cinda Williams Chima). I will definitely finish the Dark Artifices - I'm already halfway through the third book of this trilogy. I was uncertain whether or not I would finish the Otherworld series or not, given that there are just so many of them, but I only have seven more to go and they aren't super long books, so . . . there's definitely a chance as long as I keep up the pace I have now. That would mean with the three I already completed and the two that I will be completing, I only need to complete one more to meet my goal. That's pretty good! There have definitely been years where I have not made any progress at all, so I'm very pleased with myself!

Blog Updates

I feel like I've done pretty well on the blog this month. In previous month reviews, I've listed all of the posts with links to them all, but I don't think I'm going to do that this time around. For one thing, it's time consuming, and for another, I get a ton of pings to my notifications when the post goes live as it tries to verify each one. So instead, here are some stats (you know how much I love stats):

  • 3 Teasers & Top Tens
  • 1 Teaser Tuesday by itself
  • 4 WWW Wednesdays
  • 4 Reviews!!!!
  • 2 Daily OM Posts
  • 1 Month in Review for August
  • 1 Miscellaneous (where I talked about the SRC)

That's 16 posts! Not too shabby! Plus I've gotten a few reviews caught up. I need to write more than one per week, which is hard because sometimes I can't even do that. If I was going to try and improve anything on the blog, it would be my reviews. I keep falling behind on those.

I would say that September was a pretty good month, wouldn't you agree? I'm hoping to keep up this way going into October, but I also know that my job is starting to get a lot more busy (we are very seasonal and the beginning of fall going into the Christmas season is our busiest time). So if I fall behind a bit, I'm not going to worry about it.
