Another month is over! So hard to believe that we are hurtling through 2022 like this. It will be Autumn soon! Honestly, I can't wait. We are getting into my favorite part of the year, with the temperatures dropping into crisp, cool evenings, brightly colored leaves fluttering in the wind . . . I love it so much. Before we can kick off September officially though, here is my monthly wrap up for August.

August Reads 2022

Seven books read this month! Seven! That's a really good month for me! Thanks to MJ the Bibliophile for the template (go check her out – she has many beautiful templates for TBRs, goals, and other fun stuff).

Books read:

  1. Blood Wyne by Yasmine Galenorn
  2. The Exiled Queen by Cinda Williams Chima
  3. Courting Darkness by Yasmine Galenorn
  4. The Gray Wolf Throne by Cinda Williams Chima
  5. Shaded Vision by Yasmine Galenorn
  6. The Crimson Crown by Cinda Williams Chima
  7. Splintered by A.G. Howard

Yep, I got Splintered in there, right at the deadline - finished it last night. I am very happy to be going into September with a fresh slate.

Reading Stats

One thing I wanted to start tracking was how much I read and when. So I made a thing, inspired by Jessy over in the Bitchy Bookworms group on Facebook.

August 2022 Chapter Graph

Another part of this graph shows how many pages I tend to read each day. If I put my mind to it, I can read quite a few pages, but there were plenty of days last month where I just didn't read any. I don't like that. I'm hoping to avoid that in September as much as I can.

Goal Updates

GoodReads Reading Challenge: My goal is to read 60 books this year and right now, I am sitting at 43! According to GoodReads, I am four books ahead of schedule. Last month, I was only two ahead of schedule, so my pace is picking up! I think it's safe to say that I should easily complete this one unless something goes horribly wrong.

Complete the Series Challenge: I have 44 series on my list that need to be completed (you can see the complete list here). My goal was to complete six of them this year and to finish any new series that I started. In August, I completed the Seven Realms series by Cinda Williams Chima, which is my third completed series. Still working on the Otherworld series by Yasmine Galenorn, and managed to make some decent progress last month, but I'm not sure if I'll make it to the end of this one - 21 books is a loooooonnng series, but I'm also getting ready to start book #12 so . . . . maybe? I'm still not 100% sure I will make it to six series completed off the list, but I am very happy with my progress so far. I probably would have been further along if I hadn't had a reading slump in the late spring/early summer, but I'm not going to beat myself up about it. Progress is still progress.

Blog Updates

So how is the blog going? I only wrote four posts in July, but I wrote fifteen in August! That's much better!

  1. Month in Review: July 2022
  2. Teasers & Top Tens - August 2, 2022
  3. WWW Wednesday - August 3, 2022
  4. Book Blitz: The Light After the Orange
  5. Review: Still Just a Geek
  6. Teasers & Top Tens - August 9, 2022
  7. WWW Wednesday - August 10, 2022
  8. Daily OM: Lesson #9 - How Others See You
  9. Teasers & Top Tens - August 16, 2022
  10. WWW Wednesday - August 17, 2022
  11. Teaser Tuesday - August 23, 2022
  12. WWW Wednesday - August 24, 2022
  13. Monday Motivation
  14. Teasers & Top Tens - August 30th
  15. WWW Wednesday - August 31, 2022

Most of them are still Tuesday and Wednesday posts, but I like that I'm consistent with those. It gives me a chance to feel like I am still participating even if I don't have time or energy for much else. And I did manage to get in a review, plus a Daily OM post and a book blitz. My goals for September are to try and keep this pace more or less. I'd like to get a few more reviews out there and try and do more Daily OM posts as well. Originally I was supposed to do one of those every week. Oh well. The best laid plans . . .

Overall, I think August went very well for me. I'm looking forward to seeing what September brings!
