So I have complained about not seeing many butterflies this year. I do believe their numbers are down just as is the case with most insects worldwide. But as often happens, once I open my big mouth something shows up. That was the case over the weekend when these Eastern Tiger Swallowtails- Papilio glaucus visited the yard.

Female on burning bush. I think this was likely just a port in a storm as the burning bush is not native so unlikely to be a spot for egg-laying. It had just been nectaring in one of our daylilies.

Male on one of our purple coneflowers that we planted as part of our pollinator garden.

Male supping on said coneflower.
We have had a few monarchs and I found a couple of caterpillars on our milkweed the other day as well. I can't yet declare our yard a pollinator haven but we are seeing more as the summer wears on.
