AXIS Y Skincare, Korean Skincare Review

It has been far too long since I last posted. And even longer since a review was posted on Science and Skincare. However, six months since my last article and I'm ready to share some thoughts on the Korean Skincare brand AXIS Y.

AXIS Y is a climate inspired, community focused skincare brand hailing from Korea. 'Climate Inspired skincare'. It's a new term to me but what Axis Y means by this is quite straight forward.

They claim to be the first brand to have been born out of the nesscessity of dealing with climate change.

"Our skin experiences an ever-growing complex environment influenced by growing pollution, stressors, and climate change.

In addition, with the rise of traveling, more people have realized the unique skin concerns arising by their climate and the need for more personalized skincare. As the first creators of climate- inspired skincare, we seek to deliver this higher level of personalised care for our global community."

Formulating personalised skincare for the entire globe is quite the holy grail for all efficacious skincare. So, lets see how their Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum fairs in helping them achieve this goal.

Axis Y's Sunscreen.

Which Skin types can use AXIS Y skincare?

For this particular product, the brand suggest it is best to be used by acne prone and sensitive skin's. Personally, my skin is not acne prone but it has become sensitive in recent years. Please bear that in mind as you continue reading!

As a side note, I'd also like you to take into consideration the fact that skin changes throughout the year and sometimes even the day. Please assess your skin duly before purchasing new products.

How to use AXIS Y's Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum?

Apply a small amount to entire face or problem areas. Pat until completely absorbed.

The brand's Instagram page shows how you can use their products as a hyperpigmentation routine.

Ingredient Analysis

For you're reference, here is the full ingredient's list:

Water, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Sodium Hyaluronate, Propanediol, Erythritol, Butylene Glycol, Squalane, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Extract, Malpighia Emarginata(Acerola)Fruit Extract, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Chlorphenesin, Arginine, Ethylhexylglycerin, Carbomer, Glutathione, 1,2-Hexanediol, Hydroxypropyl Cyclodextrin, Disodium EDTA, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Allantoin, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil

From this I can see this product is alcohol, silicon, sulfate and paraben free. Its top five benefits include (and align with what AXIS Y has marketed); being good for oily and sensitive skin, reduces redness and inflammation, fights acne and brightens the skin.

All in all, the ingredient's list show it is good for hyperpigmentation.

How does it smell?

It does contain fragrance however, I would not say it has a strong scent.

How does it feel?

It's extremely lightweight and little silky, although I hate when people use this word to describe skincare. Unfortunately, it is quite silky. It melts into the skin and is good for layering, as there was no piling when I did so.

How much does AXIS Y Skincare cost?

The Correcting serum is £15.42 in the UK (currently on sale) and the average product costs about the same.

What I liked and disliked about AXIS Y Skincare

This was a hard product to review. This for many different reasons but mainly because I wasn't looking to treat hyperpigmentation in all honestly. My skin has become more temperamental this year (as stress has increased), which could not have helped the products case. However, I can say that it did not cause sensitivity in the slightest.

For those of you with sensitive skin and hyperpigmentation problems, I can see this product being a life saver. It has the ingredients to treat both and should help you even out your skin tone.

The best way I can put this is to write out a scenario of the kind of person I think would benefit using this. So, imagine you have uneven skin tone (not texture), very irritable skin (think turning red, stinging etc) and you know niacinamide works well with your skin (it doesn't for everyone).

If I just described you, give it a go!

Where can you purchase and follow AXIS Y?

You can purchase this at YesStyle and you can follow AXIS Y here.
