Every country has its own special days and festivities. Usually those include the country's Independence Day and New Year's Day. Some festivities may be religious in nature. Israel celebrates Jewish holy days like Passover and Yom Kippur. Arab countries celebrate the birthday of Mohamad and Ramadan.
Perhaps we should also celebrate special days, specific to us. Maybe the anniversary of our baptism, which would be like a spiritual birthday celebration. It would remind us of our independence from sin and union with Christ.
The prophet Isaiah wrote, "The LORD'S people will sing as they do when they celebrate a religious festival at night. The LORD is Israel's mighty rock, and his people will be as happy as they are when they follow the sound of flutes to the mountain where he is worshiped." Isaiah 30:29 (CEV)
Celebrate what God has done for you and for your family and make it a celebration of Thanksgiving and Praise to Him.
