Adult male Lesser Black-backed Gull - Blakeney harbour
We took the grandkids to Blakeney for a spot of crab fishing yesterday. In the harbour were a pair of Lesser Black-backed Gulls. On occasions they would stop swimming and stand on the bank. At which point you could clearly see that one of them was sporting some 'birding bling'. A quick email to David (fount of all knowledge in this department) quickly established that it had been ringed as a chick on Havergate Island in July 2010. Reported regularly from the North Norfolk coast, March to October, since 2015, on one occasion however it went to Morocco for some winter sun - seen at Oualidia (Morocco 32 44N 09 02E) 11/12/14. Always interesting to get the back story on these birds.
