Memoriał to General Władysław Sikorski and the Polish armed forces and resistance moment,
Portland Place, London
(iPhone 11)
General Władysław Sikorski (1881 - 1943) was Prime Minister of the Polish Government (in exile) and Commander-in-Chief of the Polish armed forces from 1939 until his death in 1943. He died in a plane crash leaving Gibraltar and was buried in England as return of his body to his homeland was not possible during war. He was finally returned to Poland in 1993.
This statue was erected in Portland Place in 2000 and stands close to the Polish Embassy.
