Female Silver Pheasant on Cromer golf course this morning

It was a later start for me this morning - but only because the clocks went forward. The early morning mist held promise of a grounded migrant, so I headed for the golf course. To my slight surprise there was nothing out of the ordinary - just a couple of wagtails calling in the clouds, which went un-identified. I'd walked to the end of the course and back, as far as the lighthouse, when I noticed a shape on the last green. Through the fog I could makle out the shape of a game bird - but not one I instantly recognised. I managed to approach it before it strolled off into the gorse. Checking the books when I got home I realised it was a female Silver Pheasant. Un-ringed and apparently full-winged - though unlikely to have flown (or walked) from South East Asia! Still, a golf course 'tick' for me. As Jane remarked, every cloud has a Silver lining.
