One of two Cattle Egret at Holkham yesterday

A slip on wet decking on Sunday has left me rather incapacitated. No Cley on Monday and limited birding since. I have managed a couple of sedentary sea-watches and a trip out to Holkham yesterday. Todays Felbeck Trust work party should be a test of my overall recovery! Highlights from sea-watching have included a variety of sea duck, divers and, yesterday Little and a probable Iceland Gull - following in the wake of a cargo boat. It was seen further along the coast, with a second closer bird identified as this species. A quick trip to Holkham, more in hope than expectation, failed to produce the rare Scoter - we did see the distant group of five 'Velvet' of which the bird is a part. A return visit, in more favourable conditions, will be required. Consolation came in the form of a couple of Cattle Egret and four lovely Shore Lark.
