If you're not a listener, there's a lot to cover, so let's get started.

In case any of you are interested in starting your own podcast, I mention the book NPR's Podcast Start Up Guide: Create, Launch, and Grow a Podcast on Any Budget.

In my podcasts, I say the word "um" frequently. I'm not even aware that I'm saying it. I don't script my podcasts, but I do make notes for myself because if I didn't, I'd ramble. Well, more than I already do.

I did some research to see if this was a problem for others, and based on the amount of links I found, it appears that it is.

This link was interesting:

16: How to eliminate filler words in your podcast without editing » Podcast Fast Track - Audio Editing, Podcast Show Notes, Video Editing, and other Podcast Production Services

For a variety of reasons, but primarily because his "start a filler word elimination project" gave me an idea.

What if we invented a new word for "um?"

A fun word.

What if you decided that word in the comments section for me? Then I'll have to use that as my "um" from now on.

I mentioned that I started a podcast thanks to my blogging friends Matt and LA. Their podcasts, which they shared on their blogs, were the inspiration for me to start podcasting in the first place. I get a lot of inspiration from my blogging community, and I can't thank them enough for providing me this outlet.

I started podcasting as a way to interact with all of you about topics I couldn't write about. Then, one Sunday, I listened to an audio tape of my father in his early twenties. It was fascinating to hear his voice. It was like opening a portal to a different time. I've never met my father's mother or my mother's father. I wish I could hear their voices or read their words. As a result, this podcast evolved into more of a time capsule project.

If you had a chance to create a podcast, what would you like to talk about?

I mentioned how I despise my computer's touchpad and only use it when absolutely necessary. My mouse is my preferred mode of operation. In fact, I bring it with me when I work remotely. My friend teased me about it affectionately a few weeks ago, which makes me question if it's strange for me to do such a thing.

Do you dislike using your computer's touchpad?

Health updates:

My mom is doing so much better! She has good and bad days, but she is healing beautifully overall. So much so, in fact, that she canceled her November back surgery. Thank you so much for sending healing vibes her way.

Biscuits is recovering. He'd hurt himself while playing with Buddy, but he was also suffering a fever. We took him to the vet, and he's now on anti-inflammatory medication and an antibiotic. He's been struggling this week, but he seems to be getting better each day. 🙂
