Children are more interested in the world around them and even more interested in all those large orange fruits called Pumpkins that they've seen around the city and in our classroom.

This week to further understand pumpkins and to engage in the children we began painting with orange watercolor paints.

Circle time this week brought the understanding of the pumpkin lifecycle to life with two read aloud books. "Pumpkin Hill" and "Big Pumpkin". We also acted out the "5 Little Pumpkins" song.

Continuing with our understanding of pumpkins the children used pumpkin seeds as a tool for counting and group numbers from 1-10 on small pumpkin cut outs.

Story time with Ms. Mary Beth brought the kids together through song and story. This week Ms. Mary Beth sang two new songs one about "A Funny Bunny" and another about "Whisky Frisky the Squirrel". She also introduced the understanding of a Knight this week through a small story and song about a "Knight and a Lady" who tame a "Fiery Red Dragon". She retold the story of "The Little Red Hen" to the children! The children have begun to sing the "Goodbye" song along with Mr. Bright Eyes the Gnome.

This week we took a trip to the stream where the children took part in making boats from leaves and watching them float down the stream.

They also continued to practice their gross motor skills of rock climbing! Regina has continued to have the confidence into this week while climbing rocks! Her and her friends were so excited about climbing on the rocks.

Drawing in the dirt has become one of the children's favorite pass time that the group stopped mid walk on the trail to drawn together!

The children ended their week in the woods with an activity that had the children slow down and pay close attention to the world around them by hunting and collecting leaves as a group. After awhile we stopped and gathered under the trees and collected acorn caps and make creative art out of loose parts from the woods while we listened to the different sounds the forest had to offer like the wind blowing, birds chirping and leaves rustling.

"The Chipmunks 🐿" would like to thank you for reading the blog and another lovely week with the children. Have a wonderful weekend.
