Teres wanted to have a small table to put things on when we are cooking food outside at the cabin. I had recently purchased a pile of timber and at the bottom of the pile was some birch planks which I thought would be perfect to build the table with.

I selected 2 and cut them to length and cut one side of each plank straight so that they could be joined together.

Then I drilled holes along the cut edges and glued wooden dowels in the holes and glued the two edges together.

Then I planed the upper surface so that it was flat and even.

Then I screwed and glued two supports on the underside.

I then used a belt sander to smooth the upper surface.

I cut 2x4's to make the table legs a new jointed them in a cross.

I applied a pale varnish to complete the table.
