Psalms 2:11-12
Serve the LORD with fear; tremble and bow down to him; or else his anger will be quickly aroused, and you will suddenly die. Happy are all who go to him for protection.

How do we pray first thing in the morning when we wake up? Do we just pray sitting on the bed, or lying while mumbling our prayers?

It says here, we should bow down to God with trembling and fear. Or else God's anger will be aroused, and suddenly die! But, you might ask why nobody died this way, then why this verse?

"Die" would mean spiritually. Just like what happened to Adam and Eve. We will never be called His son any longer, and what we ask for we will never receive.

In verse 10 it says:

"Now listen to this warning, you kings;
learn this lesson, you rulers of the world..."

God is telling this even to rulers who have authority. If kings should bow down, then we ordinary citizens should too.

When we ask something from God, we must humble ourselves to Him who is the Most High God, and the Creator of heaven and earth! Bowing down is a true sign of humility.
