Even though the bible tells us that the dead don't know anything, they are simply sleeping until the morning of the resurrection, and therefore death is just a brief pause between this life and eternal life, the grave still causes a lot of people concern and even fear.
Since I have been, among other things, a hospice chaplain for about a decade, I have worked and talked with countless patients as they prepared to die, and with their families as they were saying their goodbyes.
Many terminally ill patients had already made proper arrangements for their family. They seem to have a much easier time with their final days. Those that had unfinished business, perhaps a grudge they carried, had a much more difficult time.
While he had gone through a lot of pain, Job was ready to die: "My spirit is broken, my days are extinguished, the grave is ready for me. Job 17:1 (NKJV).
Make every effort to be ready, with God, with your family, and with others, so you may die in peace, looking forward to resurrection morning!
