We had the shortest storm roll through our area yesterday evening. I was outside working on our pool right before the storm started. I knew it was coming, though. As I looked across our yard into the far off sky, I saw the dark clouds looming. Breaking through the darkness, though, was a rainbow.
I've always seen such hope in rainbows. I even have a Hawaiian tattoo on my left shoulder blade of a little stick man drawing under a rainbow. The meaning of the symbol is "no rain, no rainbows". This means we have to know pain and hard times to be able to appreciate and see the beauty and joy in life.
I also always think of a certain scripture when I see a rainbow.
"13 I will put my rainbow in the clouds to be a sign of my promise to the earth. 14 Whenever I form clouds over the earth, a rainbow will appear in the clouds. 15 Then I will remember my promise to you and every living animal. Never again will water become a flood to destroy all life. 16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember my everlasting promise to every living animal on earth." Genesis 9: 13 - 16, God's Word translation.
In Genesis, after creating a flood to wash away humanity's corruption, God put the rainbow in the sky as the sign of his promise that he would never again destroy the earth with flood. This story always blesses my heart and reminds me that I can always trust God. He is always true to His word. Trust is such a hard thing in my life, but not with my God.
I never post pictures with color in them, but this time.... I thought it was necessary
