The century-old obelisk in the middle of the street shows mileages to various locations. On the west-facing side, the towns are listed from nearest (Silverton - 32 miles) to most distant (St. Louis - 928 miles). Except there, under St. Louis is Pittsburg, Kansas, which is only 595 miles away. What's happening? The order of things is wrong! I imagine the Mayor of Pittsburg, finding his way to Tulia because of its listing on his town's obelisk, getting all puffed up and pissy with his counterpart in Tulia for not having the respect (Respect, I say!) of putting Pittsburg on the obelisk. And not leaving until Pittsburg got its (supposedly) rightful out-of-order spot.

Or, you know, something like that.
