Use fortified rice for supplementary feeding program of government

Experts from the Department of Science and Technology - Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI) presented virtually in a recent orientation to participants in the province of Davao del Norte the iRice technology and the process for technology adoption. The fortified rice will be used for the supplementary feeding program of the government. The DOST-XI through its Provincial Science and Technology Center (PSTDN) spearheaded the activity in partnership with the National Irrigation Administration - Davao del Norte Irrigation Management Office (NIA DDN IMO). The participants were officers of Davao Del Norte District 1 And District 2 Federation of Irrigators Association (DDNFIA), Inc.

The orientation is part of the implementing activities under the agreement between Department of Social Welfare (and Development (DSWD), NIA and DDNFIA, Inc. under the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) Program.

In the agreement, DDNFIA, Inc. will supply the Iron-Fortified Rice to be used for the Supplementary Feeding Program of DSWD in the Province of Davao del Norte. DOST XI S&T Information and Promotion
