Lifeform: Perennial, hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.
Distribution: Native to Temperate Eurasia according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).
Habitat: Found in the belt of European beech forests in sparse woods, clearings and edges of forests and fern meadows with Pteridium aquilinum (L.) Kuhn.
Flowering period: Late spring – early summer.
