Distribution: Native from East Central and South Europe to Iran, Northwest Africa according to the Plants of the World Online portal, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

Habitat: Found in open and dry habitats – grassland, rocky terrains.

Lifeform: Annual; Therophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Flowering period: Spring (APR, MAY).
