With the recent Iceland eruption still in the news, and joined recently by serious eruptions at La Soufriere, Etna and Nyiragongo, I was interested to see that Forbes magazine has compiled a list of the 27 most active volcanoes in the world, and where the next eruptions might be.

Among the most active areas in the world, Indonesia leads the way with six eruptions taking place. The Caribbean is the newest territory to watch out for with an imminent eruption expected on the island of St. Vincent. The West Indies, Nicaragua, Grenada and Costa Rica are also on the watch list for new eruptions. The eastern Caribbean region currently has 19 active volcanoes, including the underwater Kick 'Em Jenny volcano near the island of Grenada, which is now under high alert for yachts in the area.

Each individual volcano has a hyperlink to further information from 'Volcano World'.
