Not sure how the Genus common name came about as I did not smell this at all.  Of course I was a few feet away. But I can see how they are called Lacewings, one of the Neuroptera that also includes antlions.

Stink Lacewing, a Green Lacewing-Chrysopa oculata. When I got bored watching for the Viceroy to open its wings I saw this little guy fly by so chased it for a few moments before returning to the wing watch.

Not as sharp as I would like but look at those eyes.
