This past weekend, we took a day trip to Arisaig!

The sign at Arisaig Provincial Park marks the pathways and the best places to find fossils!

Ever since my first visit to Arisaig in 2015, I've always looked forward to visiting whenever we make it out to Nova Scotia. There's a forest trail that leads down to the beach, a rocky stretch of shale cliffs and neat rock crevices carved out by the tides. And you really can find fossils there!

Most of them look something like this. Impressions of plant material and small trilobite-type creatures. They leave dull brown impressions in the rocks, and sometimes leave really clear physical images of life as it was millions of years ago. It's so darn COOL.

Something we missed this year was going to the nearby café and Lobster Interpretive Centre at the Arisaig lighthouse. It's where I learned that blue lobsters exist. Arisaig is a wonderful local spot, and if you're on the North Shore, I highly recommend giving it a visit.

Next week, back to the usual low tide content! Thanks for stopping by!
