I had to leave the cinema with like 20 minutes still to go so here is a review for 4/5ths of it. I got massive "you son a bitch I'm in" vibes for most of the movie, it seemed to be following a similar formula to a heist movie. ScarJo was fine, as were the rest of the cast, Florence Pugh was probably a standout I think her character was probably the most interesting, even though at times she was a little bit extra, for example I didn't necessarily buy the idea that she would be extremely cut about her false family being false. I kind of got where it was going by the time I had to leave and when Jeff filled me in on what else happened there weren't any surprises. The action sequences are well choreographed, but a problem arose where it all felt kind of clean and there weren't really any stakes. People would die from time to time but they were mostly no-names so again it didn't really reinforce any sort of agency or emotion into the film. It is a fine movie to go and watch it is sort of a spy/heist movie sort of hybrid thing which works fine. The main villain could have been compelling, but I didn't really care about them, they suffered from the low stakes underdeveloped problem as other characters. I don't know that it really adds anything to the character of Black Widow if that was what they were going for, but it works fine as something to go and see, it's fairly agreeable and there isn't really anything too challenging for the viewer. Unless you're fiending for some new Marvel movie content I don't think you'd really regret just waiting till it comes out on Disney+. There are probably better options to go and support at cinemas.
